What’s There and What Isn’t

See the shadow of a shadow
Distinct as a chisel on stone,
All gouging and sparking to form.
Now see bodies throwing shadows
Awkwardly into the sunlight,
Where they become whole new beings,
Sailing through the bright grass like ghosts
Seeking, poor exiles, fleshly homes.
